The units in this one year course are designed to provide students employed in the field of addiction with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work sensitively with clients and families affected by addictive disorders and behaviours. During the course students will gain a broad theoretical understanding of dependency, maladaptive behaviours and epidemiological indicators and develop their communication skills in working with people from a wide range of age groups, backgrounds and cultures. They will be encouraged to be aware of issues of social responsibility in providing for the health of others and prepared for partnership practice with clients and their families.
